Floor installation
At M.S. Harwood floor we believe in taking every step to properly install your floor:
Proper acclimation of your flooring prior to installation is necessary for longevity due to Colorado’s very low humidity. Every home’s environment is different so allowing your floor to adjust to your home is key. It can take as little as a week with narrow materials, to air racking plank material for 3 weeks inside your home. It may be an inconvenience but will insure the least amount of movement in the wood after the installation.
When installing your floor most installers apply techniques that increase installation speed. We believe it best to create a varied look to your floor and rack the entire floor before nailing. We do not stair case the materials which cause a pattern to emerge in the floor. There have been studies that show stair case type installation actually caused the floors to expand and contract more readily. If we are installing a floor more than 3 1/4” wide we always use adhesive and staples to ensure your floor remains flat and level.
Refinishing and repairs:
At M.S. Hardwood Floors we approach your refinish in these steps.
Is the floor a candidate for a simple recoat?. This can be done in situations where the wear on your floor is minimal and new finish is needed to maintain the sheen wear thickness of your floors finish.
Does the floor need sanding? If your floor shows areas that the finish has been walked through to bare wood or damage has occurred to the wood where board replacement is needed a sand down is necessary.
At M.S. we use the latest sanding techniques to get the flattest floors possible and use modern Bona Kemi Dust Contained Sanding equipment that minimizes the cleanup after we are complete.
